'EKLAVYA' loses oscar chance

Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 'Eklavya - The Royal Guard', India's entry to the Oscars, has failed to make it to the nine top movies in contention for the prestigious award in foreign-language film category. The movie, starring three top stars including the Big B, Saif Ali Khan and the new emerging Vidya Balan, was among 63 entries from various countries but could not make it to the first shortlist. The movie, which also stars Saif Ali Khan, Sharmila Tagore, Sanjay Dutt, Vidya Balan and Jackie Shroff, marked Vidhu's Chopra's return to directing after seven years. In the running for the five final nominations are Austria's 'The Counterfeiters', Canada's 'Days of Darkness', Israel's 'Beaufort', Italy's 'The Unknown Woman', Kazakhstan's 'Mongol', Poland's 'Katyn', Russia's '12', Brazil's 'The Year My Parents Went on Vacation' and Serbia's 'The Trap'.

This is to recall that Chopra's 'Eklavya had created a controversy back home in September last year when it was chosen as India's official entry for the prestigious award in the Best Foreign Film category. Many celebrities from Bollywood had openly expressed their disappointment at the film's selection by the Film Federation of India(FFI)

Bravo India! This should show who is stronger

India beat Australia by 72 runs in the third Test on Saturday to hand the hosts their first loss since the 2005 Ashes series against England.

India sealed victory in the final session of the fourth day when they bowled out the Australians for 340 after setting them an unlikely victory target of 413.

Team India becomes the first subcontinent team to win a Test match in Perth. The last time Australia had won 16 Tests on the trot, it was India who had stopped them from win number 17. That was in 2001 at the Eden Gardens.
